Ordinary to extraordinary

The first part of the day was like others here - pool swimming, sea swimming and decent coffee hunting. Oh - and I’m officially rubbish at pool ball games but my lack of talent makes everyone laugh non stop so that’s good :-))))

But just before 6pm, we all headed off to catch a ferry across to Ayvalik where we walked around (limping a better word for some) exploring markets and then 6 of us piled into one little taxi to head up to a viewing point to watch the sunset (thanks Trip Advisor!).

My phone location tells me we were in Balikesir but that’s not where we were. A thousand people were up there, and all of us were privileged to see the Sun set like we did. It was simply awesome. It was hushed - a muted excitement, with cameras poised and as it finally went down, there was a cheer and a sudden volume increase. Reverence was acted out I think.

Glorious. Jesus made that Sun.

It was tricky getting back down but we did, in the same taxi as we managed to convince the driver to come back for us (Elton John song singing helped) and before we caught the late ferry back, we all tucked into the infamous Ayvalik Toasties. They are totally yum.

A memorable day.
