I was sitting on the porch in our rented house, reading, when S came out and muttered an expletive of surprise. 'Haven't you seen?' 'What?' 'Look!' 'Oh yeah!' Fortunately she had the presence of mind to grab my camera and take a few shots before they retreated.

This one shows better why they are so named - good ears for hearing with but they do look rather asinine.

Up to 87 degrees today and getting hotter over the next few days - hard to believe we were in full winter garb a few days ago.
