1. Red Eft - the juvenile stage of the Eastern newt
2. Northern Pearly-eye butterfly

I'd say it might have been the smallest red eft I've encountered thus far. It was on the dirt road, so I gave it a lift across to safety on the side it seemed to be headed towards. The butterfly was on the ceiling of our porch, so I turned it over (the photo, not the butterfly itself).
