Diary of an Edinburgher

Special lunch!

We all set off across the Meadows about 8.30 this morning. It was sunny, but quite chilly at that time of day!

I was due for my ultrascan at 9am, and I was taken in as soon as I arrived. I do like being first! I asked the ladies what they were looking at/for, and they said that they were told I’d had a pain. Which is true - I’d told the new, young doctor that I’d had a real pain in my mid-torso region, which had lasted most of the night. It hasn’t happened again though. But the doctor referred me - quite kind of her. The scan ladies told me that everything was in order. Good to know all my innards are in the right places!

Walked back over the Meadows - slightly warmer less cold than it was earlier. I was flagging a bit while coming up the road, so I popped in to the newish cafe and had the most yummy cinnamon bun. I texted JR, who was on her way back across the Meadows, having been for a longer walk. I kindly kept half of the yummy bun for her.

Archie then went to visit Pip and his mum, while we went out for lunch. Hazel shouted us lunch for our birthdays, which was lovely of her. We went to Ka Pao, which is a brand new Asian influence restaurant we’d heard good things about. And it was splendid! There’s one in Glasgow, and this one here - none in a London yet!

We had a fine selection of corn ribs, beef curry, scallops, braised beef and - wait for it - grilled cabbage!! It was all fabulous. We then sought out the new roof top bar which has wonderful views over Calton Hill (Extra).

The others walked home, and arrived before I did on the bus. What a super day out we had - thanks Hazel!

Watched a bit of the Games, and tonight is the ‘Bain Family Murders’, a New Zealand series about an infamous murder of five members of a family in Dunedin in 1994. We were in NZ at the time, and so it was quite intriguing.
