Motti, flesh and lingonberries

After breakfast we drove to the lake Lomsen where we parked the car and walked to Ritamäki, a Finnish farm from 1700. Ritamäki, was the last settlement in Värmland where descendants of the old Finnish settlers lived. The siblings Beda and Henning Jansson were the last residents; they moved away in 1964. Their grandfather Olof Jansson was told to have had a hard life at Ritamäki. He lost his wife and four children to dysentery in 1857, but built a new family afterwards, of which Beda and Henning were the descendants.
We had read that it was served wafles and coffee, but when we arrived, we understood that it was three years ago ;) Regardless, it is a beautiful place to see. From there we drove to Karmen Kynna, which has one of Värmlands finest collections of Finnish buildings, we ate Motti (oat porrige), flesh and lingonberries and drank lingonberry juice, a very old traditional Finnish dish. A nice start of our trip with the caravan :)
