McCaig’s Tower
McCaig’s Tower or Folly is a very prominent landmark overlooking Oban Bay.
It was built in 1897 by local banker, John Stuart McCaig, to provide work for local stonemasons and a lasting monument to the McCaig family.
The climb up from the town was just a bit too much ….. fortunately there is a small car park near the top with just a final flight of steps to climb right up to the best viewpoint.
A day of sunshine and showers but we managed to avoid the worst of the rain.
