Hornet Mimic Hoverfly

A trip to Addenbrookes for my husband’s appointment during the morning; we came straight home as it was rather too hot for a trip into Cambridge town.
 
Today’s picture, as identified by an app on my phone, is a Hornet Mimic Hoverfly. It is the largest hoverfly species and an excellent mimic to a hornet.
 
The temperature at noon today was twenty-three degrees Celsius.
