A ship with no name?
She was actually called "Planet" the last in a long line - stretching back to the early 1800s - of Light Ships (note the big light amidship) that marked the entrance to the River Mersey.
These ships were "manned" and were moored at the BAR - the entrance to the Mersey.
A succession of ships were eventually replaced by a LANBY BUOY. (Large Automatic Navigation Buoy) - which still operate today.
