Tiny Birds*
These two little Royal Copenhagen birds have been with me for close to fifty years. They say couples who have been together for a long time finish each other's sentences and we certainly do that, but these days it sometimes takes the combined efforts of both of us to finish a story. This was the case when we were reminiscing about our early days in Edinburgh, the search for a place to live and the disasters that ensued when the pipes burst in a house we rented before we could move in. But I digress. Neither one of us could remember where these little birds came from.
Another day much like all the other days with small variations:
Mopped the kitchen floor...
Noticed a line of dog nose prints at Spike level all around the house...
Didn't do anything about it since it's the way he finds his way around and they would just be back...
Asked John if he would vacuum the living room rug...
He said yes, but he never did it...
Probably doesn't matter since dirt and dust , like 'dog snot' just comes back almost immediately....
Took Spike for a walk while John did Pilates on the office floor...
Washed the guest room duvet cover...
Forgot to take it out of the dryer....
Spread it out on the bed trying to smooth out the wrinkles by hand...
Couldn't face wrestling it onto the duvet, a two person job....
Mined the fridge for something for lunch...
Cut the binding for Ruta's quilt....while binge listening to a podcast called 'Maintenance Phase'...
Sewed together a couple of rows of triangles for the triangle quilt...
Did back exercises on the office floor while John went to the store...
And a newsflash: the neighbor with the beeping truck wrapped a muffler around the beeper, cutting the decibel level in half. Better late than never.
*With thanks to dbifulco for hosting this month. I couldn't hope to compete with her superb bird pictures so I decided to stick with inanimate ones....
