Rogers, Piano and Primes

Made an early start; after breakfast at the hotel we got the Metro to Chatelet to have a look at the Pompidou Centre. Unfortunately the Stravinsky Fountain has been drained and dismantled for restoration – at least that means we’ll have to come back again…! Then we toured the Iles on foot: sitting down to rest in the park at the end of the Ile St. Louis, going for coffee at Berthillon and then walking to the end of the Ile de la Cite, via the Memorial des Martyrs de la Deportation. We had lunch in Les Halles at the Café Brezh before walking back to the hotel to pick up the bikes and ride them to the Gare du Nord in plenty of time to make sure we got them on the Calais train…
