Bird-based badinage

"You see that, George?" I said. He replied that he did, indeed, see the grumpy-looking seabird. "That's your gull friend, that is." 

It took a minute for the penny to drop, but then he gave me a look of complete disdain. 

Which is as it should be.  

Lovely to have a visit from Diane earlier in the day.
