Rain in the Forecast....

Lots of cloud this morning - but still a beautiful sunrise; in fact clouds tend to make a sunrise more picturesque! 

The morning turned out to be sunny and hot, but that forecast of rain in the afternoon set the agenda for the day.. My daughter called to say they were coming to pick me up to go over to my brother's cottage today  - not tomorrow - and right now while the weather was still good.  He needed some help with the outboard motor on his small runabout...it was acting up and could not be depended upon to get him anywhere safely! More heads than one were required! 

While there, we had coffee and a good visit, the usual topic of conversation being cottage projects, things that need fixing or replacing - and there is no end to them! Maintenance, repairs, improvements..some more urgent than others, some just annoying, but all of them needing to be done. The downside of cottage life..the work never ends...

My brother had just had major work done on his bunkie..which sits in his sheltered back bay where he docks his boats..which then required more work done on his docking system - a new deck and access ramp ...so that was one reason we wanted to visit - to check all that out - We were quite impressed.. the project had worked out really well. 

Meanwhile back here at our cottage..we also have a long list of projects..none as major as my brother's, but projects that will keep someone younger, more fit and more mechanically minded than my sister and me,  busy throughout the rest of the summer. My immediate task is manageable - I have to dissuade our resident squirrel from trying to make a nest in the eave of the screened porch roof..seems that can be done with a garden hose? easy peasy...

And then the rains came  - late in the day and into the night...but we needed that rain, so one cannot complain... the trick is to have lots of hobbies on hand! Which I always do..
