Three generations (and a puppy!)
Sunday July 31
We had a visit today from Roger’s nephew, Bernard’s grandson, Matthew, the son of Roger’s other sister Pamela. Matthew and his wife Claire live in a village north of York. Claire is currently a registrar in geriatrics leading to becoming a consultant, and is currently working nights, and was unable to come. Roger, Bernard and I went to church in the morning, and Matthew arrived soon afterwards, accompanied by their new puppy, Mabel, 12 weeks old - so cute! I fixed us all a roast beef dinner, then afterwards we went for a stroll round the neighbourhood. By the time we got back, Matthew wanted to be on his way back home, so he could see Claire, before she left for work. We’ll be seeing him again in a few weeks time for Bernard’s 94th birthday. In the evening, like many others around the country, we were watching the Eurocup womens final between the English Lionesses and Germany. What a great exciting game, with the Lionesses winning 2-1 in extra time. Such a wonderful boost for women’s football/soccer!
