Ex-cicada

I found this dead cicada in the road this morning. I liked it a bit better on the fence post, but the photo of it in my hand was a little clearer - so you get both. I like the pattern on its back. This cicada is, I believe, Neotibicen Linnei - Linne's Cicada. It is one of the regular summer cicadas rather than the periodic cicadas that occur every 13 or 17 years. I hope we're due for another invasion one of these years soon, because I think it's really fun.
