Coolgardie
We left Lake Ballard this morning and so happy we had decided to go there yesterday as we woke to a rainy overcast day. Even so it was a fantastic place to wake up to and we were sorry to leave in so many ways. Our mission today was to start the final trek to Perth and we wanted to get a few kilometres under our belt. After a quick pit stop in Kalgoorlie to buy some provisions we drove to Coolgardie. A very informative Coolgardie resident informed us that this imposing building was constructed to serve as a House of Parliament at a time when there was an intention to divide WA in two. If you’ve watched the latest ABC series of Mystery Road you will no doubt recognise it as the Court House in the series. It truly is a wonderful building.
As we headed down the Goldfields Highway we started to see the first of the Wildflowers and I’ve posted an extra of what will become a very common sight over the next few weeks as we travel around the state. It’s always intrigued me how a beautiful little plant can all of a sudden pop up in the red dirt right next to one of the busiest roads in Western Australia.
Only two more sleeps and we’ll be back in Cottesloe with my family. That will be a joyful day.
Tonight we are in Kalaamaya Country
