Eastern tiger swallowtail

...posing on a teddybear sunflower! It even waited, considerately, for me to dash back inside to get my phone. Also saw quite a few black swallowtail caterpillars on the dill and a monarch caterpillar or two on the milkweed.

This was a treat of a day (in my opinion), weather-wise. We had sun in the morning, then an unusual and blissful drop in temperature to a mere 73 degrees and a good soaking rain, which meant we didn't have to water the garden. Perfect for a nap on the sofa with a fuzzy blanket and cat. Looking outdoors this evening, everything seemed drenched in color as well as rain.
