Has Anybody Seen My Cow?
Sign on a bank of mailboxes at the end of our road. The road up the mountain from the bridge over the creek is a complete mystery. There were quite a few large homes and properties up there before the fire but almost all of them were in the direct path of the fire and didn't survive. There is a sign by the bridge offering 100 acres for sale. Still, it seems like it would be rather difficult to lose a cow....
Granddaughter Maya is still having almost daily headaches and is now suffering from insomnia as a result of the latest drug she is taking. She's fed up with the drugs and says she's rather put up with the headaches than the side effects of the drugs. I learned all this from Tim yesterday as Maya wasn't up to coming and Joni stayed home with her. The cause remains a mystery but it's a shame that she is having to deal with all of it at such a young age and missing high school.
Tim brought a dart board which we put up on the side of the pump house. A spirited contest ensued, and everyone had fun. We have spent too much time and money trying to make that area an attractive spot for eating outside. So far nothing has worked, but as Peter said yesterday, 'This is a good way to get everybody out here'. Today I ordered a dart board, some darts and an ice bucket!
We staggered out of bed at 5:30 this morning to say good bye to Matt who had an 8:30 flight from SFO to New York. He was pleased to get an upgrade to first class so he could get a little more sleep on the flight and arrive in time to go out to dinner with Claire and Julia and some friends. After waving goodbye to him we went back to bed and managed to fall asleep for a couple of hours. It was lovely to see Matt, and we're hoping that he'll find his way back here before long. Spike is already missing him.
