The masses of Blue Sow Thistle (Circerbita macrophylla) must have looked impressive beside the little stream although most of the tall flowers are over now. 

Monday extra   I have added a photo of chicory growing in a field taken this morning as a comparison. The flowers are similar but those of chicory grow close to the stalk and they close about noon.
