Marks on the footpath of time...

The house in which we live is Edwardian - built in 1905.

Fifteen years ago when we moved in these marks were there. I wonder at what point in the previous hundred years a child has taken a sharp nail and scratched this. Time of World War 1 or World War 2? A child of the 1950's, going to school in a uniform with a hat? A child who now somewhere is a very old woman, occasionally thinking back to happy sunny days standing here? A child who now has been carried "from out our bourne of Time and Place....?"
