Burrell Collection

Mister F and I took Mr and Mrs F senior through to the Burrell Collection in Glasgow which reopened this year after a six year £68m refurbishment.

Sir William Burrell gifted his collection to Glasgow in 1944 but it was 1983 before there was building in which to house it.  It's a fascinating collection ranging from paintings and ceramics to tapestries and furniture from all over the globe.  I enjoyed the Chinese sculptures, Egyptian funerary ephemera, the Rodins, Impressionists and Colourists paintings.  There's a Rembrandt self-portrait which is the most expensive item Sir William bought.
