The Danube day 8

A day off the bike and sightseeing in Vienna. This was my reason for suggest the route - so we could see the Klimt pieces of art. Then Kiss was every bit as amazing as I thought it would be, but this one, a mother and her children 1909/1910 really stole my heart. The picture does not capture the atmosphere of the picture at all.  A very moving piece. We spent the morning mooching around the Belvedere Palace - what a fantastic place. It was well worth getting a Uber there and avoiding the rain. By the time we finished the rain had stopped.

We spent the rest of the day walking around Vienna- visiting all the attractions. We climbed the St stephens Cathedral tower, had afternoon tea and cake in a typical Viennese cafe, shopped   for more Steiff merchandise and had beer and dinner in town. We walked back to the apartment stopping for ice creams and a beer at our local bar. In all a fantastic day.
