Wych Elm no more. Rather that was the case with the Giant Hogweed instead (to the right).
Some loon in the village set off two or more sky lanterns whilst I was out for an evening wander. They look very bonnie drifting off into the night sky, but too many areas are like tinder boxes at this time of year, and vast amounts of damage could be done if one of these starts a fire, when it eventually falls to ground. It's also another form of litter for the countryside, one that can pose a risk to wildlife, pets and livestock. They've been banned in Wales. Hopefully the forecast rain prevented the fire risk, on this occasion.
