Diary of an Edinburgher

Bin Find Number 764

Archie and I had a walk to the Links this morning. It was warm and sunny. We didn’t see any of his big old doggy pals though.

We were heading into town for lunch at Howies. It’s a restaurant that we haven’t been to for ages, but it’s always been good. They are a fixture in the city, with several venues, and one that used to be near us, but no longer.

We were meeting up with a couple of ex-colleagues of mine. In fact, Mary was my wonderful Learning Assistant (I think they’re called something else these days) who kept me sane in my last year of teaching.

We had a superb meal - nothing too fancy, just good food, and very reasonably priced. The place was mobbed, and joy of joys - there was NO MUZAK! Excllent service too, though the place was full, and several tables were turned over. They sure are doing something right. We’ll be back.

JR went for a browse afterwards, as we were very near the St James Quarter, so it was a no brainer (for her). I came home and it was SO hot. Luckily I have a stash of Magnums in the freezer.

I’ve been watching lots of the Games - the Triathlon this morning, and badminton, Sevens rugby, with swimming and hockey this evening.

This was quite a nice wee desk, but we left it for someone else.
