Pin high
It had been quite a stressful day at work. The stress of which only broken by the arrival of a cheeseburger and chips at lunchtime courtesy of my father.
Even as we left for our second round of golf in 8 days, I was on the phone talking to a client to discuss an option we had put to them. Suffice it to say that my head wasn’t exactly focussed on the game ahead…
We didn’t even end up at the course we were thinking of as an accident on the A12 had put paid to that and we had to abandon my uncle who we were supposed to meet, so after a quick volte face we ended up at Crondon Park Golf Club, which was incredibly tricky.
I played terribly and tired badly at the end. My patience finally exhausted after another duffed shot saw the classic golfer’s release as the club went soaring down the fairway after the ball. I know, I am ashamed of myself too, but I did feel better after (and the club made a really cool sound as it propelled through the air).
I had a little moment as I thought about the children off on their hols and realised that they must be enjoying themselves as I had not heard from them (as we had agreed), but I pulled myself together just in time for a conciliatory beer at the 19th as my clubs cooled off in the nearby lake.
It was nice spending time on a beautiful evening with my father on a course that was new to us both and if you look closely at it this morning, you will see that it is a little cleaner for him having wiped the floor with me.
