Life without a crutch…
My friend collected me for my physio appointment this afternoon. I was wondering whether I’d get away with saying I’d kept up with my exercises faithfully but decided the physio would see right through me so thought honesty the best policy. But I needn’t have worried because he didn’t ask…
He just said he’d like to see me doing the standing exercises to see how I’d progressed. And he was totally satisfied.
He then showed me the next lot of exercises which are mostly done lying on the bed. No problems there and in fact on some I could do better with the operated leg than the other leg because my left knee wouldn’t bend far enough.
He seemed to like the idea that friends were challenging me to particularly steep walks so it looks like the Cat’s Ladder is on the agenda soon.
So after the physio my friend said she’d take me food shopping at M&S and we decided on the one on the other side of the island.
All was well until I was poised ready to flash my credit card at the checkout and Joss said ‘where’s your crutch?’. Oops I’d no idea where it was; it could be anywhere in the shop! Or had I even brought it in with me. Checking the car showed that I hadn’t taken it with me. It was forlornly abandoned on the car seat!
We then went for an iced latte at Vazon and I didn’t bother to take the crutch with me. So today is all about life without a crutch. I’ll certainly need it for these steep walks and for longer walks but otherwise it’s much easier without it.
With all the excitement the only photograph I took today was while waiting for Joss to pick me up; so you have the shop in Victoria Road again.
