Mystery sign

I have definitely photographed this sign in the past and it said "Customer car park", as you can probably tell - but this has been taped over. Perhaps I am not the only one to find it odd. There's a car park a couple of minutes' walk away and there is nothing you could call a car park by Tesco anyway.
