Wicksteed Park Declines
These slides, the memories. My brother and me racing, our Mother worrying, our Father encouraging, the safety net at the end. Years later, same scene, different role.
Looking at the demise of the rest of the park I'm not sure how many more generations will be doing it. The train around the perimeter, scary tunnels, rattly bridges. The water chute, wooden boat on steel faced rails hurtling at the water below. Dont sit in the back, thats where the wave lands! Towed back up on an old rope and aaargh, away again. Soaked and giggling. The row boats on the big water if our folks could afford it on this visit, sandwiches out of the car boot, always had ice-cream money though.
