My old man

Supposed to have a day to myself today as the kids went to outdoor pursuits again but unfortunately I had a load of last minute bookings which meant I had to work. Did manage to get out for a hack on Lime. Trying to tweak his supplements a bit as it's costing me a fortune and I've cut out his Ron Fields Elastin altogether but I think he's struggling without it as he was very stiff and slow on the way out and tripping loads. Once he got to the woods he'd loosened up and took off with me! He's such a character. 

Gave him a bath when we got back (this photo was pre bath hence the poo in his tail!) as it was still warm and he's very dusty and itchy. Vet that came to do his jabs last week seemed to think he was extremely overweight and gave me a lecture about not feeding hay. I think he looks pretty good to be honest. I have to find a balance because he can't do much exercise with his knackered legs, and his front teeth are really worn down so I have to supplement his grazing with hay and strip graze the longer grass so he has something going through him but doesn't gorge himself. 

The kids had a brilliant day again doing kayaking, climbing, abseiling, archery, den building etc

Really really tired tonight. Need a better night's sleep. I think cos the kids are on hols and going to bed later that we end up staying up later just so we can have a bit of an evening and watch something on TV that we want to watch.
