No, I didn’t have an appointment with a money saving expert today. What I did have was a special treat with friends C and T at the Glass Barn just outside Tobermory. We went for coffee this morning and I was tempted by the fantastic range of scones and cakes, settling on this Financier, a small moist French almond cake. It was really delicious.

In the afternoon, N and I had the less enjoyable experience of taking Bertie to the vet. The appointment had been made initially to have his annual booster vaccination but in the end he didn’t have this as he had a raised temperature caused by an eye infection. He has also had a problem with his toilet for the past week, caused by inflammation of the colon. So we have come home with a wee heap of medical treatments and instructions to follow. The encouraging thing is that the wee fella is still as bright as a button, despite his problems at either end. He is so stoical.
