Saving their last breath
I love Cornelia Parker's work, it's very accessible. I first came across her when I was doing design work for Chisenhale Art Space in the late eighties.
Then 'Thirty pieces of Silver' took off as a notable installation (see extra for detail if you don't remember it.) I loved her amusing commentary on the piece saying she loved the idea of cartoon deaths: Roadrunner or Tom and Jerry.
The piece in my main picture is an installation called 'Perpetual Canon' ( a term which describes repeating a musical phrase over and over). The old instruments had experienced many breaths but live on in a squashed circle.
Apologies to my musical friends who may find this triggering:-D X
