Grey Crowned Crane

We spent a relaxing day wandering around Slimbridge with Greg and Cathy today, and the WWT folk brought out this grey crowned crane as part of a teaching demonstration. 

It was rescued after being someone's posh pet and has become acclimatised to living with humans, and can therefore neither live independently nor raise a family. Slimbridge is therefore their permanent home. 

Well fed and looked after, the face is almost fully coloured, apparently showing peak physical perfection. If my face went that colour, I'd call a doctor...

I think Greg probably has the money shot on this, with a full face close-up. I like the twist in its neck, though, and the texture of the feathers.
