Working the Garden

Many little helpers in the garden.

The highlight? My husband teaching them how to burn a slug with a magnifying glass. Good grief. I'm not sure this is a skill I want them to develop. Sure enough, later in the afternoon they were trying to set a leaf on fire. Much too damp to do anything but I suppose the magnifying glass will have to disappear before the height of summer.

My middle child spent a good portion of the afternoon building an elaborate worm house for his worms and slugs rescued from the garden. It ended in tears when his sister killed his favourite "Momma slug" (she wanted to see the insides) and then his baby brother sat on the house and squished them. Sometimes siblings suck.
