A Day In The Life

Three Cheers

for cucamelons! It’s our first harvest of the season, and our second year growing them :) What are they, you ask? • In terms of appearance they look like a grape-sized watermelon. As for the taste, they’re crunchy, mild, citrusy, similar to a cucumber but tangy. We eat them whole or cut them in half to toss in a garden salad. I haven’t tried this yet but I’ve read they’re popular in gin & tonics :) • They’re also known as mouse melons or Mexican sour gherkins • They like heat so they start off a bit slow in spring but make up for it in July and August. We grow them from seeds in a container on our back patio. Next year I’d like to have two pots vs one • Aren’t they fun? • Our contractor, Steve, is working on the shed today. He brought Jarret with him and they’re making great progress! • The flowers beds and veggie gardens are happy for yesterday’s rain! • Be well & safe today!
