Common Darter

This dragonfly wasn't eating the lavender nectar, it was using the flower head as a convenient perch to hunt for other insects that were eating the lavender nectar.  According to my dragonfly identification guide this is a mature female Common Darter.  She lays her eggs on underwater plants, so probably also has her eyes on our pond.
