Sigh

This is the Bridge of Sighs. Actually it isn't, it's Hertford Bridge but the mythology of Oxbridge envy states that because Cambridge had a Bridge of Sighs (built in 1831), Oxford had to have one too, so Hertford College built this in 1913-14. It is very small, is over a narrow road not a river, and looks nothing like the Bridges of Sighs in either Cambridge or Venice. But when the sky is this evening's blue and the sun is reflecting off the uneven panes of glass, it really doesn't matter what it's called.

Other possible blips today:
1 The leaves on our apple tree, which started to unfurl overnight. Exquisite in the sun.
2 The headless duck I found on the grass when I went to look at the unfurling apple leaves. Not exquisite at all. Not quite a horse's head but still pretty menacing.
3 The computer screen that said 'application submitted' around 6 this evening. This was the one dementing me yesterday and I won't get an interview because in answer to the selection criterion 'Ability to work under pressure...' I wrote (blah blah) 'but I think it is irresponsible management for this to be the norm in an office...' One of my selection criteria for an employer is sane management, so please do alert me if you've spotted any. Anywhere.
