Sky 2: Beast of a Different Nature

Four seasons in one day
Lying in the depths of your imagination
Worlds above and worlds below
The sun shines on the black clouds hanging over the domain

Even when you're feeling warm
The temperature could drop away
Like four seasons in one day

What can I say about the weather today?

Hmmm... To see the ground white again at the end of April! I'm pretty sure that was a first for me! Anyhoo, that was the second (and heaviest) of three hail showers in Edinburgh today. The third came as I was driving home. Funnily enough I left work in glorious sunshine. I wish I could have shot the clouds I saw as I headed along the bypass. They were absolutely stunning. I was only able to take them all in because I was caught in the middle of a huge jam. The cause was a three car accident near the Hermiston Gait junction. Nothing too serious I think. Probably some eejit pulling in at the last moment (happens all the time) and not timing it properly. Anyway, this meant that a whole lane was closed at one of the busiest parts of the bypass. Zzzzzzzzzz... Traffic flow didn't improve much as we inched along. An unmarked police car and breakdown lorry passed through the middle of the two lanes. Great! Another accident or breakdown! So anyway, we eventually passed it. A mini bashed in, in the outside lane, with four more cars parked on the hard shoulder. Don't know if any of them were involved, but the car that had parked itself facing down the embankment (and only prevented from going back on the road by a traffic sign) definitely had! Strangely, the car and lorry that had passed us were nowhere to be seen. About a mile further down the road, there was a van parked up on the hard shoulder facing the wrong way. I don't know if this was a separate accident (the hail had started blasting down a little while before) or whether it was attempting to flee the scene before. Carnage! Perfect way to start the weekend for some! Hope everyone was ok!

Anyway, back to the weather. I think Billy Connolly got it right.

There are two seasons in Scotland: June and Winter.

I'm probably not going to be about much over the next couple of days. This weekend is going to be dedicated to holiday planning. Although I'm still waiting on dates, I have a rough idea of what I'm going to be doing. Now I need to put a little meat on the bones... Have a great weekend peeps!
