Just short of 13

Today would have been Murray's 13th birthday.
We first saw Murray in a short video from the Retired Greyhound Trust.  He was playful then,  jumping up to the camera lens obliterating the view.  Our first encounter was of an excitable, bouncy boy who nuzzled his way round us.  We were hooked.
The main blip is his first walk on the rec after being collected the night before.  It was all new to him.
He had to get used to our two cats.  I was expecting to de-train as I had my previous greyhound from chasing our cats.  But the cats, this time set the tone by entering the room and taking the wind out of Murray's sails.  Soon they were sharing space together. He was even kind to cats outside our household.
I used the photo with snood as a Christmas card.
He had a mischievous streak.  We never knew what we would find when we arrived home from work or outings when he stayed behind. He counter surfed unusual items.  Once a flour bag, a bag of lettuce, or creamed off the top of a lemon drizzle cake to name a few.
Telling him off was impossible as he would gaze at me and wag his tail!  He knew he could win and I couldn't refuse him.
His recall was atrocious,. I blame it on the fact that he had been moved several times: Ireland, Kent, Hertfordshire then us in Cambridge  But in his younger years he enjoyed the beach particularly Seahouses and Bamburgh on the Northumberland coast.
We have many very happy memories of a greyt character.  I never thought I would strike gold again after we lost our first hound but we did.

Have a pleasant and safe evening.
