Martin and Pierre

This morning we attended a ukulele class  at the Theatre Royal. It is next door to the Ark (formerly called the Discovery Centre and, before that, the Library!). Outside, is another of the hares dispersed around Winchester and Southampton this summer, to raise funds for the Murray Parish Trust, a children's  hospital charity. This  one is "Pierre, the Hampshire  Hare" created by Phil Daniels, using a special resin to make his hair. (But no explanation as to why he has a French name!?) However, he reminded me of the  book title, "The Hare with Amber Eyes.".

This afternoon we invited an old friend,  LM, to tea. She is currently in a local care home, (after ending  up in hospital after a fall), which is a shame because she and I both feel with more support she could return to her own home.(However I haven't told her my thoughts as yet.) Her distantly located  relatives  apparently think a care home is "safer." . It is a tricky  situation, and I will need to discuss further with LM and her other local  friends whether it is feasible to help her return to her home.

Early this evening we made a very sad hospital  visit to  another old friend, PR, whom I've   known since I first came to Winchester 40 years ago. He is now very ill after having a heart attack during the first  lockdown, kidney  failure, catching  Covid in hospital, and now pneumonia. His wife and his siblings were there supporting one another,
and were being very philosophical and strong. We all hope PR won't suffer for much longer.
