A pre-season friendly against Stoke which doubled up as a testimonial for Gary Locke was quite enlightening in terms of the football we are possibly going to offer up domestically and in Europe. All be it Stoke were not at the level we will play against in Europe they were reasonably competent. Our play was quite consistent over the whole game given the 5/6 changes that were made in the second half. Hopefully we have found a striker that we have been missing for more years than I can remember Lawrence Shankland led the line with great aplomb scoring two goals in the 2-1 win but we will see next week when it really counts. As you can see from from the image I was in the main stand as opposed to my usual seat in the Wheatfield opposite, the view as good as any where in the stadium but I don’t think I have taken as long to exit from the ground in my 50 years of going to Tynecastle. A quick pint back in the BMC after walking from the main stand before heading heading home was a good way to finish the day. In other Hearts related news the ‘B’ team won their inaugural game in the Lowland league with a 6-0 win over Berwick Rangers.
