Cinnabar moth caterpillars

We've a good patch of ragwort at the bottom of the garden.  Our erstwhile gardener would be horrified, as she was a horse person, and bought into the stuff about it being deadly for horses.  But we have no horses in our garden, and will not be making hay.  And it makes a great yellow statement when so much of the garden looks brown.

And ragwort is the primary food source for the rather beautiful cinnabar moth caterpillar.  I haven't seen the moth this year, but she (or they) have clearly visited, as there is an abundance of the caterpillars on the plants.

Over the last few days we have passed on to local folk several large bits of furniture - cabinets, chairs, a table.  The only thing that hasn't been snapped up is our bed - we won't need it in Ireland as our plan is to get a fancy electric one that makes it more comfortable to sit up in bed and drink our morning coffee.  Today we toured the lounge and garden room, finding a selection of redundant knick knacks and footstools - some of the footstools were taken by locals again, some remain - we will shortly make a trip to the charity shop.
