Right on cue, as the schools have broken up, the skies have turned grey and there's a hint of mizzle in the wind.

Never mind the gloomy weather, quite a few youngsters were making the most of their 'beach-not-a-beach' morning, even though Northampton is just about as far away from the seaside as you can get in England.

It's probably preferable to being stuck in a traffic jam, spending hours at an airport only to have your flights cancelled, finding your train trip replaced by a long coach journey or trying to get into a ferry port, having been stuck in your car for 7 hours or more. Maybe staying home in Northampton-on-Sea is the best idea for now.
