Airport murals
Tuesday July19
Today we were leaving for our annual trip back to England. Delta wanted us to be at the airport 3 hours ahead, which seemed rather unnecessary to us for an internal flight to JFK in New York, but we did as we were told! When we’re going to be gone a long time, it’s cost effective for us to rent a car to drive down to the airport, rather than park the car at the airport. So we had picked it up the day before from a local office. We left the house about 10.15, and had a smooth drive down to the airport, easy check in, and a moderately short line through security. We shared a breakfast bagel and had a coffee while we waited. My blip is of part of a mural in a recently opened new section to the airport, before you get to the check-in area.
Our flight was on time, and when we reached JFK we discovered our new gate was only about ten gates away in the same terminal, so it was a nice easy relaxed transfer. We had a drink while we were waiting, and the bar was a good place for plane spotting, so Roger was using an app on his phone so we could see where the planes were coming from and going to. Our transatlantic flight to Manchester was with Virgin Atlantic. Unfortunately, we hadn’t been able to get a window seat for this flight, so we were sitting in the center, which was a bit frustrating, as I could have got some good sunset and sunrise shots, had I been next to the window! At least I had an empty seat next to me. The food seems to deteriorate each time we fly, but at least it kept any pangs of hunger away!
