Back Blip - filling in a few gaps in my journal
Took advantage of a trip into Falkirk to nip down to Callendar Park for today's Blip. Didn't have time for a longer wander round, so just did a we walk along what's left of the Antonine Wall in the park.
Built by the Romans around 142AD under the reign of Antonius Pius, the wall was a turf rampart upon which was a wooden palisade and beside which was a ditch, often containing small stones (ankle-breakers) covered with grass and twigs, etc. Quite a few well-preserved sections of the Wall remain in the Falkirk area, the one at Callendar Park isn't the best but it was the best I could manage today!
