I spent most of today doing a navigation course on the Port Hills. Even with 5 layers on it was cold.

Today was paper maps and compasses, the tried and true that doesn't break, fail, or run out of power. Never rely only your phone or GPS. It was a good refresher. It's not rocket science, you just have to practice it.

Here I'm looking more or less south. I confess that at one point I took a bearing that suggested the magnetic pole had shifted. ;-)
