End of an era
Lovely fresh morning on my cycle to the market. Sadly this stall, Harvey's is to cease trading tomorrow. In winter Jo sold me vegetables and fruit and in spring and summer plants as well. My lovely spring primroses came from there and each year their colourful pelargoniums entice customers. The plants were cheaper than garden centres and better condition.
This morning one of Jo's friends presented her with a painting of her and stall. Jo's a great conversationalist and chats with many about many topics.
The market, stallholders and their wares are much loved by us all. It really grates when the city council interfere with stallholders' and consumers' wishes in their perpetual plight to impose councillors' personal vanity projects to make money to compensate previous squandering elsewhere.
The latest council plan is to have stalls: fruit, vegetables, cheese, bread facing south. Given the hot days we've had that is business suicide for stallholders. Clearly demonstrates decision not made by a market shopper or even someone who has a basic understanding of food.
Last night's camera shot showed a mouse eating in the hedgehog house. Set up tonight in the hope of a hedgehog sighting.
Have a pleasant evening and stay safe.
