Mayacamas Hills
I took this picture because I'm a sucker for trees silhouetted against the sky, but I also like the different layers in this shot. There are also some hidden details here which probably wouldn't show up unless you knew they were there, but Spike is there, as is a burn scar with bulldozers and partially rebuilt houses (or partially burned ones.)
I'm not quite sure exactly where the burn scar is but a story about the slow pace of rebuilding after the Glass fire featured a road overlooking Rincon Valley and a couple who lost their house and are still waiting for a permit to rebuild. This spot would definitely qualify.
There is always plenty to watch at Spring Lake. *As we came closer to the swimming lagoon a skein of geese (they're only a gaggle when on land)** was just coming in for a landing, a man was swimming past the inflatable waterpark sructure and a lifeguard was just tethering an inflatable lifeboat at the end of the lagoon. Later in the day it will be busy with swimmers and picnickers but the only sound this morning was the rowdy honking of the geese.
Dana and I went back to King's Nursery today. It is more fun to shop for anything with Dana because she enjoys the process. John is motivated only by making a list, striding through the store until he finds exactly what is on his list and getting out of there as quickly as possible. This process is the same whether he is shoes, clothes or groceries....
Dana and I both spent more than we intended, but she has a beautiful garden and lots of good suggestions. She has also been instrumental in helping us make our garden more beautiful.

** The list of collective group names for animals is both bizarre and entertaining. Here is a list of a few:
A parliament of owls, a confusion of wildebeest, a conspiracy of lemurs, a dazzle of zebras, a tower of giraffes, a skulf of foxes, a destruction feral cats
