Traditional haymaking
The grass is cut long and hung over these special frames to dry. Dreadful light, I'm afraid. This is how I was making hay myself in Kent, circa 1969, to feed two goats. I didn't see this being cut, but in the sixties I used a scythe. Really good exercise and gave me time to think. The quality of thought is another matter, of course.
Twenty years later in my horse keeping days , I was reminded that there's nothing to beat the smell of really fresh, green hay.
In the extra there's enough free range poultry to keep the household in eggs. And on the extreme right of the shot, behind the gate, there's what looks awfully like a couple of goats. One was making an almighty noise.
