End Of The Heatwave

In stark contrast to media photos of beaches at places like Brighton and Bournemouth earlier in the week, Burnham was looking deserted this morning, apart from a few families putting a brave face on it and the lifeguards trying to look busy.

We’d dropped Sophie off at school for the last time this school year so thought we ought to perform our Wednesday ritual of a walk along the prom and breakfast at Wetherspoon’s one more time.

By lunchtime it was raining.
