Day 200/22. A pair of Avocet

A pair of Avocet wading in the Titchfield Haven Nature Reserve today. We thought it would be a little cooler on the coast. It was, by 3 degrees, but still 30c,
The Avocet is the emblem of the RSPB and symbolises the bird protection movement in the UK more than any other species. Its return to the UK in the 1940s and subsequent increase in numbers represents one of the most successful conservation and protection projects. Today around 1,500 pairs are here during breeding season.
