Christina McKelvie, the SNP MSP for Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse and also - more relevant for these purposes - Convenor of the SP External Relations and European Committee was our host this evening for a reception at the Scottish Parliament. Here she is in very animated conversation with one of my colleagues. They were discussing schemes to support disadvantaged and socially excluded youth in Scotland. Quite inspiring actually.

The theme of the reception was more about the use of social sciences research in a Scotland-UK-European context and concluded a useful day that we spent with the funding council - ESRC - in Edinburgh yesterday.

I'd only previously met Christina on twitter, but she was an absolutely superb host, and great fun to be around.
